Es zeichnen sich mit dieser an Bedingungen gekn?pften Forderung - sowohl an das Kinopublikum als auch 'an die gelehrten H?ter der ?sthetik' - die Konturen einer Initiative ab, in der Bal?zs bereits 1924 eine fundamentale Bewusstwerdung des theoretischen und form?sthetischen Potentials des Films einfordert: 'Meine erste Filmtheorie [...] war die heftige Proklamation einer neuen Kunst.'2 res?miert Bal?zs sp?ter r?ckblickend. Doch die Konfrontation mit B?la Bal?zs ist nicht allein eine Begegnung mit dem Begr?nder der programmatischen, filmtheoretischen Konzeption des 20. Jahrhunderts 'Der sichtbare Mensch', es ist auch eine Begegnung mit dem Dramatiker, dem Dichter, dem M?rchenautor und dem Novellist B?la Bal?zs. Er versuchte sich mit Dramen, Gedichten, Romanen, Feuilletons und schlie?lich Filmdrehb?chern. Dennoch bleibt die Auseinandersetzung mit diesen exponierten, literarischen Talenten in dieser Arbeit lediglich auf solche Bereiche beschr?nkt, die R?ckschl?sse erlauben auf das geistige Fundament seiner pers?nlichen Disposition zur Materie der Filmtheorie. Dies wird insbesondere an der lyrischen Sprachlegung Bal?zs bzw. an stilistischen Besonderheiten aufzuzeigen sein, mit Hilfe derer Bal?zs die Bereiche offen zu legen versucht, die f?r ihn das Wesen der Filmkunst umrei?en. Als ein erster wichtiger Navigationspunkt dieser Arbeit steht dabei die Vorrede in drei Ansprachen voran, deren Analyse die ersten Kapitel dieser Arbeit einnehmen wird. Interessant ist hier bereits, dass Bal?zs nicht nur den Status eines Kunstwerkes f?r den Stummfilm beansprucht, sondern dar?ber hinaus mit Vehemenz seine ?berzeugung von der Notwendigkeit und Produktivit?t der Theorie artikuliert. Die folgenden Kapitel veranschaulichen und reflektieren die film?sthetischen Anwendungsstrategien f?r den Stummfilm, die Bal?zs in den 'Skizzen zur Dramaturgie des Films' dezidiert er?rtert. In diesem Kontext werden auf der einen Seite filmische Mittel in ihrer Integrit?t bzw. ihrer ?sthetischen Gewichtung im Film, wie etwa die Gro?aufnahme, ber?cksichtigt.
