Stormwater management as art? Absolutely. Rain is a resource that should be valued and celebrated, not merely treated as an urban design problemーand yet, traditional stormwater treatment methods often range from ugly to forgettable. Artful Rainwater Design shows that it's possible to effectively manage runoff while also creating inviting, attractive landscapes.

This beautifully illustrated, comprehensive guide explains how to design creative, yet practical, landscapes that treat on-site stormwater management as an opportunity to enhance site design. Artful Rainwater Design has three main parts: first, the book outlines five amenity-focused goals that might be highlighted in a project: education, recreation, safety, public relations, and aesthetic appeal. Next, it focuses on techniques for ecologically sustainable stormwater management that complement the amenity goals. Finally, it features diverse case studies that show how designers around the country are implementing principles of artful rainwater design.

Artful Rainwater Design is a must-have resource for landscape architects, urban designers, civil engineers, and architects who won't let stormwater regulations cramp their style, and who understand that for a design to truly be sustainable, people must appreciate and love it. It is a tool for creating landscapes that celebrate rain for the life-giving resource it isーand contribute to more sustainable, healthy, and even fun, built environments.

We have created an e-book that can allow you to walk the streets of a deserted and evocative Venice, in a magical and surreal atmosphere. The photographs, in high definition and not retouched, are all visible both by browsing the site and by purchasing and downloading the e-book, and from within this by connecting to each of them, which in turn can be chosen, purchased and downloaded, and anyway viewed free of charge. Each photograph is accompanied by a multilingual caption that appears in the e-book. The entrance to the Arsenale in Venice was chosen as the cover photo of the e-book "Venice in Quarantine, Anno 2020" because for centuries it was the production centre for the ships of the Serenissima, historically a "top secret" and super-efficient location thanks to unprecedented technologies for assembling naval components. This is the only place, covering 48 hectares, equal to about 15% of the area of the city of Venice, to have a city wall. The rest of the city was protected by the lagoon. The main entrance to the Arsenale is symbolically taken as the entrance to this e-book. The twilight between day and night, or vice versa, poses the question: at the time of Covid-19 are we going to be meeting the night or the day?

American novelist and journalist. He pioneered the naturalist school and is known for portraying characters whose value lies not in their moral code, but in their persistence against all obstacles. Dreiser's outstanding works were the novels Sister Carrie (1900) and An American Tragedy (1925).
Dreiser was a committed socialist, and wrote several non-fiction books on political issues. These included Dreiser Looks at Russia (1928), the result of his 1927 trip to the Soviet Union, and two books presenting a critical perspective on capitalist America, Tragic America (1931) and America Is Worth Saving (1941).

Music education today requires an approach rooted in care and kindness that coexists alongside the dismantling of systems that fail to serve our communities in higher education. But, as the essayists in Sound Pedagogy show, the structural aspects of music study in higher education present obstacles to caring and kindness like the entrenched master-student model, a neoliberal individualist and competitive mindset, and classical music’s white patriarchal roots. The editors of this volume curate essays that use a broad definition of care pedagogy, one informed by interdisciplinary scholarship and aimed at providing practical strategies for bringing transformative learning and engaged pedagogies to music classrooms. The contributors draw from personal experience to address issues including radical kindness through universal design; listening to non-human musicality; public musicology as a forum for social justice discourse; and radical approaches to teaching about race through music.

Contributors: Molly M.
The essays in this volume, by one of America's leading authorities on Bach and Mozart, serve a single objective: to promote a deeper understanding of those two great composers both as supremely gifted creators and as human beings.Author Robert L. Marshall draws on a diverse range of interpretive strategies including both textual and musical criticism. Life and work are treated together, just as they were intermingled for the composers.

After apreliminary historiographical contemplation of the "Century of Bach and Mozart," fifteen numbered chapters follow in roughly chronological succession. Among the issues addressed: the artistic consequences of Bach's orphanhood, hisrelationship to Martin Luther, his attitude toward Jews, his relationship to his sons, the stages of his stylistic development, and his position in the history of music; and, moving to Mozart, the composer's portrayal in Amadeus, his wit, his indebtedness to J. S. Bach, and aspects of his compositional process.

The volume concludes with a factually informed speculation about what Mozart is likely to have done and to have composed, had helived on for another decade or more.

ROBERT L. MARSHALL is Sachar Professor of Music emeritus, Brandeis University.
